A well-played late-'80s Martin with the dry, open dreadnought tone people chase in older Nazareth-built acoustics. This D-16M has clearly been somebody’s working guitar over the years, but it still delivers that big Martin low end and woody midrange that flatpickers and singer-songwriters love.

Key Features

  • 1989 Nazareth-built construction vintage Martin character from a respected production era
  • Solid wood dreadnought design strong projection with warm, open resonance
  • Mahogany body voicing dry, balanced tone that records well and sits nicely under vocals
  • Original hard shell case included vintage molded plastic Martin case from the era
  • Aged-in acoustic response mature tone with plenty of real-world character
  • Martin passive pickup factory-installed.

Condition
C+ condition. Shows surface wear throughout consistent with years of playing. Small dings are spread across the top, none more than 1mm deep or 1" across. The back of the guitar is covered in tiny scratches, only visible when the light hits the wood at just the right angle. From a few feet away, the instrument looks pretty great.

This instrument has been maintained, as evidenced by a zipped-down bridge and surprisingly straight neck, with no evidence of repaired damage. The action at 12th is 3mm on the bass side and 2mm on the treble side caused by 1mm of bridge lift on the bass side of the bridge, as pictured. This is fairly common on older Martins of this type, but it still sounds and plays pretty darn good overall and has that big, booming Martin sound in spades. The original plastic case has a couple of broken latches but still comes with the guitar.
